Let me first give you some context.....
Esther has just been told by her eunuch, Hathach, that Mordecai is asking her to approach the king on behalf of her people. She is bewildered, scared, and even shocked that her cousin would suggest such a thing. He of all people knew that the Persians were forbidden to go to the king without being summoned........and she had not been requested by the king for thirty days! She had a decision to make - either risk death by attempting to intercede on behalf of her people, or face an almost certain death as she too would perish among the Jews.
Now, carefully read Beth Moore's statement in light of the drama unfolding in the story of Esther.....
"Beloved, in the times of greatest struggle when you make the Godward decision over convenience, earthly comfort, or carnal pleasure, you too have come to a critical moment in the fulfillment of your destiny. A defining moment. A war is being waged over your head in the unseen realm, and a great cloud of witnesses is cheering you on. You have no idea what's at stake."
Wow. Have you ever thought that your decisions are often defining moments? Or that instead of beating yourself up that you did something wrong, a cloud of witnesses are supporting you over the Godly decisions you did make?
There are so many examples in my own life that I could share. Instead, I will share only a few of my battles that I desire to turn into defining moments:
- When I wake up in the morning, will I dread the day of work that lies ahead of me, or will I get up and look to God for His strength to carry me through?
- Will I push aside my Bible reading to complete other tasks, or will I decide to make my personal time with God a priority?
- Will I keep Christ to myself, or step outside of my comfort zone and share Him with those who need Him the most?
As little or as great at these decisions may be, they are defining moments for me. May they repeatedly be Godward ones.
You do not need to share them here, but I encourage you to think about your own defining moments. What decisions contribute to your destiny?

Wow, Kalyn, that was completely what I needed tonight. When I read the statement from Beth Moore, I was moved. But even more so as you went on to explain in the manner you did & encouraged with the great cloud of witnesses. I've never thought of it like that, both in the way Beth explained it & especially in the way you did.
