Wedding Cakes and Cupcakes

Here are the wedding cakes I did for the Friday night wedding:

This one went pretty much without a hitch. The only problem was that the black dye from the buttercream dots bled a little onto the white fondant. Not very noticeable, but I still need to research how to keep that from happening again.

Here are Saturday's cupcakes:

It was a Fall/Autumn theme, so I made fondant leaves to put on top of the cupcakes.

The next time I use an embellishment on top of a cupcake, I think I may need to use gum paste instead of fondant. The fondant, once it was sealed in an air tight container, started to melt and sag. Even though it does not taste as good, a gum paste leaf would have dried stiffer. At least I had brought some extra icing with me to fix the problems.

I am so glad the crazy wedding weekend is over and even though I was up until 1am a couple of nights, it was so worth it. Everyone loved my work and I am hoping that I will at least receive some more orders because of the weddings!
