2010 Grocery Project: June

Success!

I did very well this month at staying within my budget and can attribute that to a number of factors.

- I had stocked up on meat when it was on sale last month, so I did not have a meat expense this month. (Meat has a tendency to really break the budget, especially if you buy it in bulk!)
- We did not eat at home as much this month. We were either at our family's houses, or we ate out. (Sometimes an ice cream trip for dinner). Our eating out budget still isn't blown though and we are not moochers, I promise!
- We also had a couple freezer meals stocked up that I had made in the previous month. Those are such a breeze to pop in the oven when you do not feel like cooking!

All together, I spent only $122.62 this month on grocery food items! I am so exited! This means I have $27.38 to give to the benevolence fund at church. I doubt this trend will continue, but I know I will definitely be trying my hand at more freezer meals to alleviate some of the budget stress in the tighter months.
